Why Chicago should be chosen for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games

No, not Ald. Burt Natarus (42nd).
This one is courtesy of Arenda Troutman, the defeated incumbent alderman of the 20th Ward. Note: incumbent aldermen in Chicago only leave office if they die, or retire and appoint their children. To actually be VOTED out, they have to have screwed up really, really badly.
During her almost 3-minute tirade, she blames voting irregularities, the federal government and a media conspiracy against her.
The election results below her show the reason for her ire. With 86% of precincts reporting, she is being buried by challenger Willie Cochran, 62% to 32%.
She does not mention that she is being investigated by the feds for shaking down a developer concerning a vacant parcel of land that wasn’t even in her ward. (She’s on audio tape from that little episode calling herself and her city council colleagues “ho’s”.) Or that an envelope addressed from the Police Department to her at her office was found in the apartment of a drug dealer. Or that said drug dealer was seen driving her $50,000 Escalade.
This election, her friends deserted her. Worse for any politician, so did her enemies.
About 48 seconds in, you’ll hear a voice say “Quit whining, lady. You lost!” I wonder who that could have been;-)
On a happier note, 3rd Ward candidate Pat Dowell has forced incumbent Dorothy Tillman “The Hat” into an April 17 runoff election.
UPDATE: On April 17, Dowell won.

Westminster City Council did a great job in providing free entertainment of the highest quality. It was West End Live 2009. Hundreds of people managed to get a spot. That number will be dwarfed by the hundreds of thousands who will watch these videos from the event. It is a great advert for the entertainment available. I have a pass and am fully accredited so no waiting around. I get a great spot at the front of the stage and am free to wander around as well. No fanline so no signing but plenty of music.

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley goes off on a rant against certain city council members who are not voting the way he wants them to. The vote is a for real estate tax increase to fund Chicago’s chronically underfunded CTA Mass Transit System (the El). But who cares what it’s for – this is some good TV. Democracy at work with Da Mayor! Note the laughing in the background.
