For those who’ve thought about relocating to an island paradise such as the United States Virgin Islands, but have hesitated about leaving the continental U.S. behind, here is some information on just how easy it is to make the move.

Of course, if you have a business that you want to bring to the USVI to take advantage of the Economic Development Council corporate benefits program you are not required to buy any real estate, residential or commercial. You can still qualify for the EDC business program, save taxes on your business profit, lease the commercial or office property you need, and rent a condo or apartment.

Chances are you may well fall in love with the beautiful islands and decide to stay year round. You might also buy residential real estate and rent it out the half a year you are away.

Whatever you choose to do, you have plenty of options. While the large apartment communities of 100+ units or more, with clubhouse, pool, laundry room and perhaps gated entrance, are not to be found in the U.S. Virgin Islands, there are lovely apartments of various sizes and styles in large homes or estates that have been subdivided. You can also find condo communities that range from standard to sumptuous, some right on or near the beach, and many with group activities or public areas.

There is also plenty of commercial property for sale or lease for your business if and when it qualifies for the EDC program.

With the Virgin Island’s crystal blue Caribbean water, its exotic fauna and flora, its pristine white sands and some of the world’s best scuba diving and snorkeling, the lure of the tax savings and corporate benefits through the area’s Economic Development Council are just an added plus to living in a sumptuous wonderland of natural delights.

Whatever you want and enjoy, you can find it here. Whether it is rain forest, mountain trails, sunny beaches, or breathtaking views along majestic bike trails, you can find it in the United States Virgin Islands.

To start your application process for the USVI EDC program and start on the road to corporate benefits and tax savings in the world’s greatest paradise, contact the nearest USVI Economic Development Council office today. They are located in Washington DC, New York City, and on both St. Croix and St. Thomas islands.

Summer Vacation spot in North/South Carolina.?
My family and I usually go to St. John USVI for summer vacation, but this year we are trying to save some money and are looking for an alternate get away. We live in Washington, DC and would prefer to go to North or South Carolina for Summer Vacation 2009. The things we are looking for are:
*A house to rent for a week (not a condo not a hotel room, a HOUSE)
*Close to the beach- we don’t mind walking
*In a nice neighborhood. (nothing dumpy, but defenitly feels like you on vacation at the beach)
*Reasonable price ($1000-$2000) Willing to go a little over, not to much thought.
*There are five members of our family all adult size.

Also, we are considering Georgia, however, it is not our first choice.

Any help, or suggestions would be wonderful! Even if you know of a certain area which is nice to visit, any name would help me in my research.
    Many thanks!

Without a doubt, check out Oak Island. Our family loves it. It is just south of Wilmington about 10 minutes from Southport, one of the most relaxed towns you will ever visit. If you get the chance to go July 4th week, you can take in the 4th of July festivities. Southport holds the oldest 4th of July celebration in the nation. We are very involved with Miss NC and this is her first appearance each year. Even if you do not get the chance to go july 4th week, you will not be disappointed with the relaxing atmosphere of Oak Island. Kinda ironic that I’m writing this as I sit on the couch in my Oak Island T-shirt. we visited Southport a few years ago and really liked it, so last year we booked a week on Oak Island and fell in love. My wife and I are planning to purchase a home there in the near future for retirement. We found the place we stayed at on craigslist.com. You will have to look in the Wilmington, NC craigslist area under vacation rentals. Type in Oak Island in the search bar and you will be abe to find listings. We spent about $1,200 for the week for a 3 bedroom 2 bath that slept 8. there were 7 of us and it was great. The good news is you can stay 3-5 blocks off the beach and it is still just a short walk to the beach.

West of Bryson City, North Carolina, is a big beautiful lake. We just visited the area in June and went to Bryson City and Cherokee. We were told about the lake near there but never made it.

Contact the Chamber of Commerce of Bryson City online and check it out. We rented a beautiful cabin completely furnished, towels and all. Different cabins, different pricing, but really nice.

Check into it and good luck.
