The officers rarely get fired because their union – the fraternal order of police – gets em reinstated.

Regardless of admittion, he was in the wrong. Therefore, his actions were just as bad as what he THINKS the cop’s were. What makes you think the cop DIDNT write a report? It takes about 15 minutes to do so, and in many busy jurisdictions, cops end up putting in hours after shift, just writing reports. The cop most likely took the contraband and wrote a report after shift or when there was a break in calls. Do you ever see two cop cars sitting alongside eachother? They’re writing reports.

And no…..by law, if an officer fails to document something, he is only penalized. In some cases, it is worse to not document it, but those cases are rare.
