    With an additional …
With an additional 8 yrs of a public school education, Americans fall from the 92 percentile in science (in 4th grade) to the 29th. While American 4th-graders are bested only by So Korea & Japan in science, by 12th grade, the only countries American students can beat are Lithuania, & So Africa.
If public education were extended all the way through college, by the time a student gets to graduate, he might very well be qualified to be … speaker of the house! (thanks ann)

    But he can …
But he can regurgitate Liberal Pablum on command..and thats what counts!

    We need to have …
We need to have reverse education in this nation. When the kids are borned wrap them in linen and use them as dust mops, pay them a wage and bank it, secondly when their old enough to wash dishes and pick fruit, walla out goes the Mexicans. Keep this in mind they must work 24/7. Now if we have any survivors at the age of 21 they should be able to attend a good school than college. Point, hard work no play out goes liberalism, walla a white to the right and a born again nation.

Why of course!!..The head of the school district with the worse students, worse
test scores, most failed “progressive” programs, highest crime rate, most thoroughly
    “dumbed down” curriculum, laziest teachers..
should be in charge of everything!! After all the Liberal vision of “education” is such a success story.

    Totally. With this …
Totally. With this dolt in place we could finally have “gay” high schools where the deviants can get the education they need without being “picked on” by normally developed youth. Hip Hip Hurray for the new found vision of The Messiah. Obama will be an abysmal failure, but no one will care because the average American could care less.

    WHAT ABOUT STUDENTS …
WHAT ABOUT STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES? They are being left behind while Mr. Duncan promotes the creation of a L.esbian G.ay B.isexual T.ranssexual student high school, and pays students for good grades!

Re-Scheduled to Wednesday night, November 19th at 9:00 pm, FOX NEWS will be airing the CPS students with disabilities denied busing story on the 9 O’Clock News. Parents with children that have disabilities have been interviewed in a 4 minute story about our children’s IEP transportation requirements not being provided by Chicago Public Schools. Mark Saxenmeyer and his staff should be commended for making it happen!

My sense of it is …
My sense of it is that Duncan is the reformer the nation needs…He could be named by Obama Education Secretary. We need to shake up the educational establishment….including the teachers unions. We need merit pay…and a new attitude towards parent/school interaction.

He was just tapped by Obama as the new Secretary of Education.
I don”t understand this, because Chicago has some of the worst schools in the country.

  • followthefleet says:

    I don’t know him …
I don’t know him well either…but, from what I’ve read, the did have a positive impact in Chicago in improving the performance of the third largest school district in the USA. He has a cool head and has been able to keep on friendly terms with the teachers unions, while simultaneously pushing much needed teacher reform….i.e. merit pay and recognition for superior teachers, and pink slips for bad teachers.

I am a CPS teacher. What you do not know is the increase of violence in our schools. There were five teachers attacked in my school alone last year. The so called bad teachers that have their school close just go to another school and the cycle remains the same. He has no experience in the classroom , no masters or doctorate. Having good friends give the hook-up gets you ahead. I voted for Obama but I sure do regret it now. Very disappointed with this pick.
