The 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia were the last games hosted by the United States. On January 9, 2008, the chicago city council approved a nearly $20 million legal settlement to four African American men who were tortured into confessions by former police Cmdr. John Burge and his subordinates. The four allegedly were subjected to electric shocks, beatings and other brutality by Burge and his men. Though the settlement in the Burge cases is a victory, we must push for continued justice and accountability in these cases:

Join us in calling for the federal prosecution of John Burge and other Area 2 and 3 Chicago Police officers!

Join us in calling for new hearings for the 26 African American torture victims who remain convicted and incarcerated!

Join us in calling for reparations and psychological counseling on behalf of all of the torture victims!

However, you will find that those reactions are more like overly exuberant episodes of blind trust. The group No Games Chicago represents the residents of Chicago who are against the Olympic bid and are calling for investment in better education, public transit, housing, hospitals, and clean energy. Visit www.nogameschicago.com for the FACTS about the Olympics and why Chicago CAN’T host it.

So now my question is why do African Americans keep killing one another…I try to be objective, but just look at CPD statistics (which don’t lie) and see that the large percentage of crime happens in black neighborhoods. Why, why?? And some idiot interviewed above said something about seeing someone else with “something” and then wanting it for yourself…in other words robbery. With warped thinking like that there’s no wonder these fools will never progress further.
